Frequently Asked Questions

Answers for nervous patients

We hear the same worries from nearly every new patient. Here’s what we want you to know before you even pick up the phone.
Do you treat patients with dental anxiety?

Absolutely. Many of our patients experience some level of dental anxiety — you're not alone, and you're not "difficult." Our entire approach is built around making you feel safe, heard, and in control. We take extra time to explain every step before we do it, and we never rush you.

Can I tell you to stop during a treatment?

Yes — always. We use a simple signal (usually raising your hand) so you can pause at any time. You are in complete control of what happens in our chair. We will never proceed with anything you're not comfortable with.

What does nitrous oxide feel like? Is it safe?

Nitrous oxide creates a calm, floaty feeling without putting you to sleep. It wears off within minutes of removing the mask, so you can drive home afterward. It's one of the safest and most widely used comfort options in dentistry, with decades of use across all age groups.

My teeth hurt but I'm scared to find out why. What should I do?

Call us. Dental pain rarely gets better on its own, and catching a problem early almost always means a simpler, less expensive fix. We promise the conversation is low-pressure — you can ask questions, share your worries, and decide on next steps at your own pace.

What if I haven't been to the dentist in years?

This is one of the most common reasons people call us, and we genuinely mean it when we say: we don't judge. Our priority is getting you back on track comfortably, not making you feel guilty about the gap. The most important step is just making the call.

Do you offer sedation for anxious patients?

Yes. We offer options ranging from nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for mild anxiety to oral sedation for patients who need deeper relaxation. We'll discuss what's right for you at your first visit — there's no pressure to use anything you're not comfortable with.

Will I feel pain during my procedure?

We take numbing very seriously. We use topical anesthetic before any injection so you don't feel the needle, and we check in with you throughout the appointment. If you feel anything that bothers you, tell us immediately — your comfort is always the priority.

I have a specific fear — should I mention it when I call?

Please do. Knowing ahead of time lets us prepare — whether that's having a certain team member greet you, setting up a comfort item, or briefing the dentist before you arrive. No concern is too small, and nothing you share will be used to judge you.
